The App Store privacy label of Next Rung reads Data Not Collected, and the build matches it. No record is collected by the developer, passed to anyone or sold. There are no accounts or sign-in, no analytics or advertising code, no tracking across apps and websites, and no crash reports sent anywhere. Records move outward only on the player’s own action, through Share, Save to Photos or Add to Calendar.

| Skill self-ratings | Local database | No | Removed with the app; Rate my skills again adds a newer rating |
| Matches — date, court, type, partner and opponent names, score, result, notes | Local database | As CSV after Export my history | Delete in the match editor |
| Post-match reviews | Local database, inside the match | As CSV after Export my history | Delete review; deleting the match removes it too |

| Language, appearance, notification and Face ID switches | iOS app preferences | No | Removed with the app |

CameraNSCameraUsageDescription | A profile photo taken on the spot | First tap on Take photo in Edit profile | The shot, reduced to 1024 px, in the profile and nowhere else | Settings › Next Rung › Camera. Choose from library still fills the photo and needs no permission. |
ContactsNSContactsUsageDescription | Partner and opponent fields filled from the address book | First tap on From contacts in the match editor | Only the picked name, as plain text in that match; numbers, emails and photos are not read | Settings › Next Rung › Contacts. Names are then typed by hand and the match saves as usual. |
Face IDNSFaceIDUsageDescription | The locked diary opens without typing the PIN | Offered right after a PIN is set, or on the Unlock with Face ID switch | Only the switch position; iOS runs the face check and passes back a yes or no | Unlock with Face ID in Settings, or Settings › Face ID & Passcode › Other Apps. Unlocking falls back to the PIN. |
Location while in useNSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription | A club’s spot marked on site; clubs sorted by distance with a Nearby hint | First tap on Mark club here, or the first opening of the club list once a club has a marked spot | Coordinates of the marked club; the player’s own position is read once and kept nowhere | Settings › Next Rung › Location › Never. Clubs save without a mark and the list keeps its usual order. |
MicrophoneNSMicrophoneUsageDescription | A spoken note attached to a match review, played back in the review and the match card | First tap on Record in a match review | One M4A file per review in the private data folder | Settings › Next Rung › Microphone. Text notes and saving the review keep working. |
Photos, add onlyNSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription | The level card image placed into Photos | First tap on Save to Photos on the level screen | A new image in Photos for each tap; the library itself is never read | Settings › Next Rung › Photos › None. Share level card keeps working. |
Calendar, add events only (iOS 17 and later)NSCalendarsWriteOnlyAccessUsageDescription | An upcoming tournament or a planned session in the system calendar | First tap on Add to Calendar in a tournament card or a training plan | One event in the default calendar with title, dates, club and city, and notes — drill names, or category, format and partner | Settings › Next Rung › Calendars. Tournaments and plans stay as they are. |
Calendar (iOS 16)NSCalendarsUsageDescription | The same event on iOS 16, where writing an event needs calendar access | The same first tap on Add to Calendar | The same single event; existing events are never read | Settings › Next Rung › Calendars. Tournaments and plans stay as they are. |
| Notifications | A morning note with the next drill or planned session, and an evening note about logging today’s match | Last step of the first-launch introduction | Two daily reminders scheduled locally; nothing arrives from a server | Notifications switch in Settings, or Settings › Next Rung › Notifications. |
No backup or sync of its own exists, and no iCloud container is declared. An iPhone or iPad backup to iCloud or to a computer can include these records; that backup is switched on, kept and deleted by the device owner under Apple’s terms.
No part of the build connects to a server. The only web pages opened are this policy, the Terms of Use and the contact page, shown in Safari from Settings.
Export my history builds CSV files for matches, tournaments and training. Share level card builds an image with the step, the index and the five sources, without name, photo, notes or partner names. Both reach the iOS Share sheet only after a tap, and the destination picked there handles the file under its own rules.
Deleting Next Rung removes the database, the voice notes and the preferences; a PIN left in the Keychain is wiped on the next install. Copies already sent outward stay where they went — shared CSV files and level cards, images saved to Photos, events added to Calendar, and any device backup made earlier.
The age rating is 4+. With no sign-in, chat or public profile, nothing is gathered about anyone, children under 13 included.
A revised policy replaces this page with a new date at the top. The date above marks the version in force.
